Superior Schools Offer Free Summer Meal Program
Good nutrition doesn't take the summer off just because school is out. This summer break, the Superior Public School District is offering a free meal program for kids up to age 18 at a variety of different sites throughout the city. All told - through the school locations and the Summer Parks & Rec Department, they're offering breakfast, lunch, and snacks - through August 23 - depending on the location.
Here are the details:
Superior Park & Rec Sites - runs June 12 - August 16. Lunch is served 11:45 AM - 12:15 PM, and a snack is offered 4:15 PM - 4:30 PM at the following sites:
- 18th & Oakes
- Billings Park
- Central Park
- Hammond Park
- Wade Bowl
- Webster Park
Summer School - runs June 18 - July 19. Breakfast is served 8:00 - 8:30 AM and lunch is offered 11:00 - 11:30 AM at the following sites:
- Bryant Elementary
- Four Corners Elementary
- Great Lakes Elementary
- Lake Superior Elementary
- Northern Lights Elementary
- Superior Middle School
- Superior High School (through July 26)
Various/other community locations - runs June 10 - August 23. Lunch and snack (if available) times vary from location to location, detailed below:
- Lakeside Terrage (Allouze): 4938 Bay Drive - Lunch runs 10:10 - 10:30 AM
- Bartley Manor: 3920 Tower Avenue - Lunch runs 11:00 - 11:20 AM
- Skate Park (Heritage Park): 2228 Hammond Avenue - Lunch runs 11:50 AM - 12:15 PM
- Superior Townhomes: Aspen/Raspberry Court - lunch runs 12:40 - 1:00 PM
- Boys and Girls Club: 710 Catlin Avenue - lunch runs 1:20 - 1:40 PM and a snack occurs from 3:30 - 4:00 PM
All meals must be consumed at the serving sites and are not available for takeout. No meals will be served at any of the locations on July 4 and July 5.
