A shooting over the weekend in Superior has led to two arrests, according to a Monday press release issued by the Superior Police Department.

They shared details of what occurred Monday on their official Facebook page:

On 2/4/2022 at approximately 20:11 hours, Officers of the Superior Police Department dispatched to an apartment in the 700 block of Bridge Ave. after multiple people called  911 to report a male shooting a gun out of a second story apartment window. Shortly after the initial dispatch, a caller reported a bullet had entered their home through a back window.

Once officers arrived at the location, they secured the area and spoke to several witnesses to help determine where the shots had been fired and identify a male suspect. It was at this time an adult male occupant in the apartment called 911 to report that he was not the shooter.

Officers then surrounded the apartment and had the occupants of the apartment exit. The adult male who was identified as the shooter was subsequently taken into custody 23 minutes after officers first received the call. The adult male was determined to be intoxicated after Superior Police Officers conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. An adult female and a 2 year-old child were also in the apartment at the time of the incident.

After noticing possible bullet holes in a nearby house, dumpster, parked car and a garage, officers were able to obtain a search warrant for the apartment. After conducting the search of the apartment, officers located a handgun under the mattress in the 2 year-old's bed.

Ultimately, the male was arrested for Recklessly Endangering Safety, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Criminal Damage to Property, Disorderly Conduct, Probation Violation, and Going Armed with a Firearm while Intoxicated.

Also, the female from the apartment was arrested for Resisting/Obstructing Arrest, Attempted Battery to a Law Enforcement Officer and Disorderly Conduct.

Thankfully, no injuries to Superior residents were reported.
