Superior Makes Way For CVS Pharmacy
Looks like developers for CVS Pharmacy are on track for their early-fall 2012 target for the grand opening of the Superior, Wisconsin location at 28th and Tower. Trucks and heavy equipment appeared at the location the middle of last week and demolition of the convenience store that used to be at the corner started yesterday.
Valmeir Companies - the developer for CVS - is planning a 13,000 square foot pharmacy in Superior, complete with a drive-through for shoppers convenience.
Two other Twin Ports locations of CVS Pharmacy are planned on the Duluth side of the bridge sometime next year.
This new construction breathes new commercial life into a corner that has seen two empty storefronts for the last few years; Kentucky Fried Chicken - which operated across the street, remains closed for business. (Although I have noticed some used cars for sale in the parking lot).
Long-time residents will also remember that another adjacent convenience store at that corner was also transformed into new business when the National Bank of Commerce rebuilt the store that used to house the Holiday Station Store.
