Superior High School Welcomes A Familiar Face As The New Principal
It'll be a "welcome back" for the new principal at the Superior High School this summer. Officials with the Superior School District have announced that their search for a replacement for outgoing principal Rick Flaherty has been successful with the naming of Aaron Fezzey as the person who will assume the position.
Fezzey will start his new role on July 1 for the 2022-2023 school year. His new role at the high school will be return to the building where he was previously positioned.
For the last three years, Fezzey served as the Assistant Principal at Superior Middle School. However, prior to that, he spent 8 years at Superior High School. During that time he was a teacher and also an instructional coach. It's worth noting that even during the last three years while he was gone to the middle school, Fezzey was still a presence at the high school where he served in an assistant coaching position with the Spartan Football Team.
In her letter to parents and the community, Superior School District Administrator Amy Starzecki praised Fezzey and his ability to work with kids; she shared that "[h]is calm and commanding presence, as well as his proven instructional leadership skills, will be a strong addition to the Superior High School team".
The appointment of Fezzey as the new principal for Superior High School comes after a lengthy search to find a replacement for the outgoing Rick Flaherty. In March, the district announced that Flaherty would be moving to Lake Superior Elementary to be the principal for that school building. Flaherty's new position also starts effective July 1.
