Sammy’s Pizza Returning To Hermantown
A restaurant that has a long history with the Northland is making a return appearance to Hermantown. Sammy's Pizza has announced their plans to open a full-service restaurant off of Central Entrance on Menard Drive - behind the McDonalds and Napa Auto Parts store. The restaurant is aiming towards a March opening.
Sammy's Pizza operated a location in Hermantown a few years ago. That location closed in 2017 when the lease ended.
According to sources, the new restaurant will be a full-service location - even including a daily lunch buffet. In advance of the open date, the restaurant is holding a job fair on Sunday, February 17 at their Woodland location: 4011 Woodland Avenue - between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
Sammy's Pizza got it's start with the Perrella family on the Iron Range in the 1950's. The family-owned chain started with a small cafe in Keewatin, before a move in 1954 to Hibbing. The Hibbing restaurant serves as the flagship to this day. Sammy's Pizza is famous for their cracker-crust style of pizza, that is cut into squares instead of triangles.
