Road Work On Highway 210 + 73 Near Cromwell Starts May 24

A project that's sure to cause a few traffic delays for some gets underway on Tuesday, May 24.  Officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation are alerting drivers to the summer-long road work that will occur on Highway 210 and Highway 73 in Cromwell.

A variety of impacts are expected.

Project details shared by the Minnesota Department of Transportation show that traffic will be reduced to a single lane controlled by a signal on Highway 210 as it passes through town.  There will be no access to Highway 73 at the intersection with Highway 210; the Minnesota Department of Transportation will post both a local detour and a truck detour to be active during the road construction project.

Here's a summary of what work will happen this summer at Highway 210 and Highway 73 in Cromwell:

• Twelve-foot driving lanes and ten-foot parking lanes will be maintained on Highway 210 from Highway 73 to Burnett Road
• New storm sewer and curb and gutter to collect and convey stormwater runoff will be installed
• New sidewalk along Highway 210 and along the west side of Highway 73 adjacent to the Cromwell High School will be completed
• New lighting along Highway 210
• Possible, temporary easements and permanent right-of-way on Highway 210 south of the Highway 73 intersection is anticipated

Total cost for the work is $3.7 million.  Total benefits of the completed work will be an "improved ride....drainage...lighting...[and] accessibility".

MNDOT anticipates that this road construction project will last the entire summer season, wrapping up in October 2022.
