Check your fishing gear, Rapala is recalling some rechargeable fillet knifes over the chance of fire.

RapalaUSA says that they have gotten reports of older versions of their Rapala Rechargeable Fillet Knives catching fire when people use chargers that didn't come supplied with the knife.

Rapala says that they are replacing batteries in the affected rechargeable fillet knifes, to check if you have a unit that needs a new battery check the battery in the unit for a large white EFT label, to see what the label looks like visit here.

If you do find that your unit does not have a battery with the EFT label, visit here to contact Rapala to arrange to have a new battery sent to you and to return the old one for proper disposal. Rapala will do this at no charge to the consumer, they also say that using the original charger will help avoid damage and give the unit a proper charge.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says that the Rechargeable Fillet Knives were sold at Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, Fleet Farm and sporting goods stores nationwide and online at rapala.com from March 2011 through December 2018 for about $101.
