Railroad Work Will Close A Portion Of Highway 169 May 11-25 Near Grand Rapids
A lot of people travel from the Twin Ports to the Iron Range for business and pleasure. A temporary highway closure could affect your travel starting next week.
A portion of Highway 169 in Grand Rapids will be closed temporarily to allows railroad crews the ability to make a gate upgrade. The closure will affect that portion of Highway 169 that lies between 3rd street and Highway 2 - beginning Monday, May 11 to approximately May 25.
Here is the official detour details as provided by the Minnesota Department of Transportation:
- Northbound Highway 169 traffic will be routed east on 2nd Street to 1st Avenue, then north to Highway 169/2.
- Southbound Highway 169 traffic will use the same detour in the opposite direction.
- Southbound truck traffic will be asked to take 7th Avenue (further east of 1st Avenue on Highway 2) south to 10th Street and then west to Highway 169.
