Perkins For Sale Following Bankruptcy Filing

Enjoy eating at Perkin's Family Restaurants?  Want to buy the company?  That (seemingly) far-fetched idea could be a reality for someone as Perkins & Marie Callender LLC filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy on August 5 - a move that also put the restaurant chain for sale.

The bankruptcy followed the closure of 29 Perkins and Marie Callender locations over the weekend. News sources are reporting that approximately 1,190 employees are affected by the closings.

For now, it appears that the company is interested in selling off the Perkin's part of their business holdings and part of their general baking business - leaving the Marie Callendar locations alone for now.   At the same time, the company is reviewing their financial options as part of a restructuring move.

Locally, Perkins Family Restaurants operate locations in Duluth (3 locations), Superior, Cloquet, and Mountain Iron.  They also have a variety of locations in the Twin Cities metro as well as some locations in North-Central Wisconsin.
