Operation K9 Event In Superior Was Lots Of Furry Family Fun
The Northland Law Enforcement K-9 Foundation with the help of community businesses and individuals has raised a lot of money over the years for our furry law enforcement officers. Donations to the foundation help with the initial purchase cost and training of a new K-9 to help keep our communities safe.
This last Thursday was the 8th Annual Operation K9 Event in Superior, Wi. It was a day for community members to see the K-9 officers and their handlers in action through the form of demonstrations. The event is so much more than that though.
There were law enforcement vehicles to see and also get inside and tour. The event also featured bounce houses for the kids, food, a silent auction and merchandise for sale to help out the cause, and even a chance to meet many of the pups.
It's sometimes tough to appreciate how much training and work goes into getting the furry crime fighters to where they need to be, and Operation K-9 helps the public see that firsthand. The demonstrations really show not only how loyal the K9s are to their handlers, but also how fluidly they work together as a team to get the job done.
Bragging a little bit because I'm a proud big brother, pictured above and featured in the YouTube video are Sergeant Fye and my furry K9 Nephew Donny with the St. Louis County Sheriff's Department. They have been partners since November 2020 helping to keep the streets safe.
If you missed Operation K-9 this year, do your best to make it to the next to show your support for our dedicated furry officers and their handlers around the Twin Ports region. You can always hop on to the Northland K-9 Foundation website to find out more about what they do and even donate to the organization.
