Pet owners will want to know about a voluntary recall affecting cat food.  According to the United States Food and Drug Administration, Nestle Purina PetCare is recalling a limited amount of their Muse Wet Cat Food Natural Chicken Recipe in Gravy sold in 3-ounce cans due to contamination concerns.   The manufacturer believes that the product could contain rubber pieces that are translucent yellow with a blue backing, which may present a potential choking hazard.

The recall follows complaints from a few customers who found the rubber pieces in cans of their cat food.  At the present time, there have been no injuries or illnesses reported in conjunction with the recall.  The notification involves retailers across the nation as the cans were widely distributed.

According to Nestle Purina, the cans affected are easily identifiable by the UPC code, production code and "Best By" date on the bottom of the can.   Here are the specifics:

  • UPC:  38100 17199 (single three-ounce can)
  • Best By Date: APR2020
  • Production Code:  80941162

If you have any of the recalled cans in your possession, you're instructed to not feed it to your cat.  Call 1-800-982-3885 for more information.
