MNDOT Plans 4-Year Rebuild For I-35W; Project Starts In August
If you thought traffic was bad in the Twin Cities now - get ready! Officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation are getting ready to kick off a massive 4-year rebuild for the stretch of I-35W that runs through the heart of the city.
The work will begin in August, re-doing the stretch of 35W that runs from downtown to 43rd Street. At first, drivers won't notice much going on as much of the first phase involves prep work to get ready for the rest of the project. Things will gear up in earnest next summer when orange cones, lane changes, and detours take over.
