Minnesota Woman Wins $73,000 on ‘Jeopardy!’
A Minnesota woman just won a nice chunk of money on 'Jeopardy!'.
Emily Sands from Chanhassen recently won 3 days in a row on 'Jeopardy!' hauling in $73,000. Sands was a contestant earlier this month with journalists Anderson Cooper and Bill Whitaker playing the role of host during her appearance.
The episodes with Sands was filmed in late February, early March and she says that it took two years from when she submitted her application to when she was on set filming her episodes.
Sands was noticed by fans of the show as an aggressive player, wagering big sums of money when given the chance. According to TheJeopardyFan.com, Sands got 87 questions correct and 16 incorrect, went 6/8 on Daily Doubles and 4 for 4 on Final Jeopardy.
Southwest News Media talked with Sands and she said that, "It was the experience of a lifetime. it's crazy, because you watch these shows and somebody wins — so why not me, why not you? Give it a shot."
'Jeopardy!' is in the process of finding a new host after the death of longtime host Alex Trebek in November of 2020, they've had a variety of notable people hosting from Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, actress Mayim Bialik, news veteran Katie Couric, TV personality Dr. Oz, 'Good Morning America' hots George Stephanopoulos and Savannah Guthrie, CNN's chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, and former 'Jeopardy!' champion Ken Jennings.
