The Minnesota State Fair is always a hot ticket for music fans each summer.  Historically the grandstand has played host to some of music and entertainment's hottest acts - with a good blend of current contemporary performers and all-time legends.

2023 will be no different.

Organizers of the Minnesota State Fair have made their first announcement of one of the acts that will headline the lineup in the grandstand this year. And, it's an iconic 80's group.

Duran Duran will play the Minnesota State Fair grandstand on Thursday, August 31 with opening support from Bastillle and Chic - featuring the also-iconic Nile Rodgers.

It goes without saying that Duran Duran's career mirrors the pop music renaissance that occured with the advent of MTV in the early 1980's. The channel - and the group - ushered in a second British invasion of the United States, and ultimately breathed new life into a music genre that had grown stagnant by many accounts.

Along the way, Duran Duran racked up the hits and the awards. Twenty one Top Tens, with record sales of more than 100 million; the group also won eleven different awards - including two Grammy's, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.

Meanwhile Nile Rodgers and Chic were legendary in the 1970's disco scene, with a driving bass and a unique sound that revolutionized funk, soul, and pop music.

Tickets for the show will range from $77 at the low end to $197 for premium seats.

Tickets for the much-anticipated show will first go on sale during a presale event for Citi cardholders. That presale will happen from 2:00 PM on February 13 to 10:00 PM on February 15. General admission sales will then happen on Thursday, February 16 starting at 10:00 AM, by phone:  1-800-514-3849 or online at etix.com.
