St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - State officials today announced the new state minimum wages for next year.

The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry says the hourly minimum wage for large employers will rise from $10.33 to $10.59 an hour on January 1. Large employers are defined as those with more than $500,000 of gross revenue for the four most recent quarters.

The minimum wage for small employers will be increased from the current $8.42 an hour to $8.63. Under state law, the state minimum wage is adjusted annually for inflation. The increase that will take effect on January 1 is based on a price index that is risen 2.5%, which will add 26 cents to the large employee minimum wage and 21 cents to the minimum pay for small employers.
