An important collection event is coming up for all Superior residents; as scheduled, it's one of the few opportunities that you'll have to discard old, unwanted, no longer needed items that contain mercury.

The City of Superior invites you to take part in the Mercury Collection Event on Saturday, November 10 - from 9:00 AM to 12 Noon at the Harborview Park in Superior.  The Northwest Cleansweep Truck will be on hand - parked between the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center and Perkins Restaurant.

This event will offer free collection of mercury containing products for all Superior residents.  It's important to note that this collection event does not include services for businesses.

Of note:  If you're bringing a mercury-containing thermostat, you can get a new replacement one that doesn't contain mercury for free.  This offer is available on a first come, first served basis.

Organizers are alerting the general public about some of the items that will not be accepted at this mercury collection event.  Those items that will not be accepted include:

  • Ballasts
  • LED bulbs
  • Broken bulbs
  • Household hazardous materials

Harborview Park is located in the parking lot that's located between Perkins Family Restaurant and the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center, off of Highway 2.  Attendees can either take the service road in off of the Marina Drive entrance (the one that leads towards Barkers Island) or from the entrance to Perkins Family Restaurant, with that service road crossing Highway 2 where 2nd Avenue East would cross if it continued on in that direction.
