Lobbying Firm Representing City Of Superior Gets New Owner One Week After Entering Into Contract
The lobbying firm that just received approval to start representing the City of Superior has a new owner, however the point-person remains the same. Capitol Consultants - headquartered in Madison - was acquired by Michael Best Strategies - a national firm that provides government relations services.
The sale comes one week after the contract with Capitol Consultants was approved by the Superior City Council. According to details shared by the Superior Telegram, the working agreement with the firm came with the notion that there could be a potential change in ownership coming.
Superior's contract with Capitol Consultants (now Michael Best Strategies) came to fruition through a desire to continue the lobbying relationship with Bill McCoshen. McCoshen - a managing partner in Capitol Consultants - has "advocated for the city in the state capitol since 2001". That long-term working relationship is what city administrators wanted moving forward.
City leaders are also hopeful that the new partnership between McCoshen and Michael Best Strategies will reap some additional benefits as well. As a national firm, they feel that "McCoshen will have access to greater resources".
For his past, McCoshen will join Michael Best Strategies "as a partner as part of the move, along with Tony Landenohl, Senior Vice President of Capitol Consultants". That move has executives with Michael Best Strategies hopeful as well; Robert Marchant, president of the national firm shared:
"Bill McCoshen has a long track record of delivering client wins on some of the most important public policy issues facing the business community. We're excited to have the Capitol Consultants team join the Michael Best family and look forward to adding their clients to a growing list of businesses that rely on Michael Best Strategies for their government relations, business consulting, and strategic communication needs."
The lobbying agreement with Bill McCoshen and Capitol Consultants (now Michael Best Strategies) was approved by the Superior City Council on September 7. The contract runs through March 31, 2022 "the end of the legislative session".
