The Superior Police Citizens Academy Is Taking Applications
If you're early in life trying to figure out what to do for work, or maybe want a mid-career change of pace, the City of Superior Police Department is hiring and will even cover academy costs for you.
Maybe you're not in that spot though but have been intrigued by police work, or just want to know more about what i's actually like for officers on a day to day basis. If you have free time in the evenings, the Superior Police Department Citizens Academy might be something to apply for.
It's a 9-week program and only requires you to be there on Wednesday evenings for a few hours and one Saturday morning. So it's not a major time commitment to be a part of it.
Other I know who have gone through similar programs said it really opened their eyes to what officers deal with, and how they respond to various situations. All of them I spoke to said it was a good experience all around. When you think of the few hours a week, it's not that much if you factor in the time a day you probably spend scrolling on your phone. It's also a great opportunity to meet others and network too.
Remember that you need to be 21 or older, be able to pass a background check, and have no prior felony convictions. If you are considering a career in law enforcement, this would also be a great program to jump onboard with to see if it's something you want to do more permanently.
