WATCH: Wisconsin Governor Candidate Raises Eyebrows With Proposal To Fund Schools
Everyone's budgets feel like they're a little bit tight right now. Sometimes you have to get creative to make ends meet or to achieve your goals or needs.
A candidate for Wisconsin Governor recently proposed a bold idea to help the state's schools that, whether or not you agree with it, is certainly a "creative" solution. Some might also say it's pretty on-brand.
In a recent interview with Vanessa Kjeldsen, Wisconsin State Capitol Bureau Chief for Gray Media TV stations like WMTV in Madison, WEAU in Eau Claire, and KBJR (Northern News Now) in Superior/Duluth, gubernatorial candidate Ryan Strnad offered up a funding solution for Wisconsin's schools that raised some eyebrows.
In the short clip shared by Kjeldsen, candidate Strnad was asked about the priority of "quality education at all levels" and what it means to him.

Strnad responded that it means money needs to go into the state's school systems, proposing, "We could think out of the box here", continuing, "How about alcohol at high school sporting events?"
After making his out-of-the-box suggestion, Strnad explored some of the outcomes of this idea, saying, "I think one, it would be rude to the kids, unfortunately, who aren't old enough to drink, to see adults drinking - but that purchasing of the beers at high school football facilities is actually going into the schools".
Strnad then briefly touched on the liabilities of if someone were to get in an accident after drinking at a game and driving home. He concluded, "I know it's a bold decision to make, but hey, that's revenue".
Hey, that's revenue indeed.
The comments section on this post went wild, with people citing some well-known stereotypes and statistics related to Wisconsin and drinking. One person joked, " Future wealthiest schools in America!"
Another remarked, "The parents are crushing beers in the parking lot before the game and plenty bring flasks in, so this wouldn’t be all that different."

Ryan Strnad, a beer vendor from Mukwonago, is a democrat running in a field of candidates after it was announced Tony Evers won't seek reelection at the end of his term next year.
Along with Strnad, the Democratic field of declared candidates consists of nearly 10 people, including Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez and Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley.

The Republican field currently includes two declared candidates, Congressman Tom Tiffany and Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann. A third Republican candidate, Bill Berrien, recently dropped out of the race.
With Evers out, the 2026 election makes it Wisconsin's first wide-open Governor race since 2010.
