Everyone’s idea of comfort food is unique, but most would agree that meatloaf, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and sandwiches rank high on the list.

A list of the best of the best roast beef sandwiches was just released, and you’ll need to travel to a little family restaurant just west of the Twin Cities to find the best in Minnesota.

A Unique Midwest Twist on Roast Beef

Minnesota’s best roast beef sandwich is a little different from some of the other options on the list. Bump’s Family Restaurant in Glencoe, MN, serves what is known as a “commercial sandwich.” It’s roast beef between two slices of bread, served with mashed potatoes and smothered in gravy.

The term “commercial sandwich” comes from a time when traveling salesmen would need a quick meal while traveling through towns via train.

What Makes Bump’s Sandwich Stand Out

Cheapism.com says the sandwich is served with pot-roast-style roast beef with homemade mashed potatoes and gravy. Speaking of gravy, each sandwich is served with a whopping 12 ounces of gravy!

According to Bump’s Family Restaurant website, the “Full Beef Commercial” sandwich is $15. They also offer a turkey and a loaded breakfast version of the sandwich.

Bump’s Family Restaurant has been serving homemade comfort food in Glencoe since 1987 and is highly rated with a 4.5-star rating on Google.
