The nice thing about many of these routes is that many of them also offer opportunities to get out of your vehicle and do some hiking or exploring on foot if you'd like to as well!

Another (longer drive) from the Northland is going out to the Porcupine Mountains in the western portion of the Michigan UP. It's a bit of a drive, but the scenery is definitely worth making a weekend of it.

I detail some information about a trip to the Porkies here. If you want to go even further, head up the UP toward Copper Harbor and drive the famous Highway 41, with its "tunnel of trees". That's definitely a drive you'll want to make at least a weekend out of (as it takes about 5 hours to get there from Duluth), but it is stunning if you're looking for an adventure!
