IRRRB Grants Funds For Zup’s Rebuild In Cook After Fire
This last fall a fire destroyed the Zup's grocery store in Cook. This was a big deal as it was the only grocery store in town and the only store for miles around. It really was a hub of the community. There was some panic among residents at first that the store would not be rebuilt, but the owners stepped up and said they would definitely bring it back.
They even delivered groceries to Cook from their Tower store for people who couldn't leave town.
Better news has come now and is bringing this rebuild a step closer with a grant from the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board for $350,000. According to KBJR 6, the city had actually requested the money to improve and expand the infrastructure for water and sewer needs. Some of the money will go to the on site build as well.
Construction should be happening sometime in the next two months.
