Tomorrow, Jim Pratt will discuss Captain Robert Pratt and the Breakthrough at Petersburg.

Veterans Memorial Hall, a program of the St. Louis County Historical Society, invites the public to a local history discussion series, “History in a Pint.” The presentation entitled “Captain Robert Pratt: Bittersweet Appomattox,” will take place at Carmody Irish Pub and Brewing, and will begin at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, October 23rd.

Jim Pratt of Duluth will tell the story of one of the least known, but most pivotal moments of the Civil War; the Breakthrough at Petersburg. Jim’s great-grandfather, Robert Pratt, along with his CO Charles Gould, was instrumental in the breaking of the Siege of Petersburg, hastening the conclusion of the war ten days later at Appomattox.

The event is free and open to the public. Guests are asked to park in the parking ramp behind and connected to the Sheraton, which is across the street from Carmody’s.
