The summer road construction season will take the center stage at an upcoming meeting held between the St. Louis County Public Works Department and the City of Hermantown.  Specifically, the Tuesday April 16th session will focus on the planned construction on Maple Grove Road, Stebnar Park, and the intersection of Ugstad Road, LaVaque Bypass, and Highway 53.

Organizers have scheduled the meeting for 6:00 PM at the Hermantown City Council Chamber - 5105 Maple Grove Road.

Some of the key points of the projects include:

  • Repaving of Maple Grove Road between Midway Road and Westberg Road, plus new sidewalk and curb and gutter.
  • New sanitary sewer line along Maple Grove Road between Stebner Park and Loberg Avenue.
  • An accessible path will be constructed from Maple Grove Road to the shelter in Stebner Park.
  • Major improvements at the intersection of Ugstad Road and Lavaque Bypass with Highway 53. This will include a reconfiguration of the intersection, a new traffic signal and street lighting, longer turn lanes and other safety improvements.
