Grandma’s Marathon Announces Park Point Race Options
The Park Point 5 Mile Run/2 Mile Walk will look different this year. Then again, everything has because of COVID-19.
Grandma's Marathon made the announcement of what this year's version of the race will look like. Grandma's Marathon Medical Director recommended course and set up. Not only will there be a socially distanced version but a virtual version as well.
The Park Point 5-Miler/2-Mile Walk physical version will take place on July 16th. There will be three-time blocks for the race so that fewer people will have to be there at a time. People can choose a Morning, Midday, and Twilight race, and it will be first-come, first-served. The Morning version will be from 6 am to 9 am. The Midday race will be from 11 am to 2 pm. The Twilight race will be from 4 pm to 7 pm. Once the wave fills up, it will be closed. There will be no exclusive kids-only dashes this year.
There will be 10 waves of 25 people for each time frame, and everyone is encouraged to stay a safe distance apart. Each race will be timed by a chip as normal, then all the races will combine and show the place the runners took. The interesting part of this race will be if there is a faster wave than the others. In other words, will the morning, midday, or twilight be the fastest
For the virtual version of the Park Point Run/Walk, participants can still run the race anywhere they want to between July 13th-17th and follow the directions on the website.
The fees are $30 for adults, $10 for kids aged 8-14. Online registration for the physical version closes at 11:59 p.m. on July 13. If a person wants to do the Virtual version, if closes at 11:59 p.m. on July 16.
