Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has ordered State Agencies to get prepared for the legalization of marijuana in Minnesota next year if the legislature approves the bill.  Eleven states and the District of Columbia have already permitted recreational marijuana for adult use, but this could be quite the up hill climb to pass in Minnesota.

The Minnesota Senate already rejected a Bill to decriminalize recreational marijuana in 2022.  With a Republican majority in the chamber Senate Majority leader Paul Gazelka says he'll block the bill. Walz knows this will be a fight and has said he is relying on his supporters to push it through.

Walz said "My agencies have been tasked to put all of the building blocks in place, from (the Department of) Revenue to the Department of Public Safety, to the Department of Health, we will have everything ready to go and we will be ready to implement it in Minnesota, the minute the legislature moves this."
