Superior residents looking for a way to get rid of the trash that didn't get picked up during the cancelled Spring Cleanup take heart:  The free landfill days are coming - Saturday, May 30 and Saturday, June 6.  The event will run on both days from 8:00 AM until 2:30 PM.

Other than some concessions for social distancing measures (the six-foot rule will be in effect) and other safety measures, residents who have utilized the free landfill days in the past will know what to expect.  Essentially all household trash, brush, grass clippings, leaves, and up to 4 tires will be accepted free of charge during the event.  For all of these items (except grass and leaves - which are accepted free of charge all year long) will see the usual fee for disposal waived.

There are certain restrictions on some items being accepted - which is similar to past years.  The full regulations can be found by clicking here and visiting the Superior Municipal Landfill's website, but in general the following items are not accepted for free:

  • Recyclables
  • Demolition/construction materials
  • Electronics
  • Appliances
  • Batteries
  • Fluorescent bulbs
  • Motor Oil
  • Household hazardous waste

The free landfill days are open to all residents and property owners of Superior; proof of residency or property ownership is required.  The event is only open to residential customers - no businesses or contractors.  Loads must be covered to prevent garbage from being around during transit.  Loose items must be bagged or tied prior to arrival at the landfill.
