We are all over using hand sanitizer and wipes and other cleaning products to battle the coronavirus. FDA officials have made a list to avoid.

What happened was the FDA received complaints about how some of the hand sanitizers were reacting with their skin. The FDA then tested those products and found it had methanol which is wood alcohol. Methanol can be dangerous when it is absorbed into the skin or eaten. (I don't know why you would want to eat hand sanitizer.)

If any products look like something you have had in your house and you have used a lot of it, you may want to get looked at. Your doctor will have to treat you because you could have methanol poisoning. If you are experiencing nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, blindness, or mild seizures, it could be caused by methanol poisoning. Call your physician or poison control right away!

Ok So which products should you look for? The FDA found the dangerous methanol in the following products manufactured by Eskbiochem, keep in mind it has one company but many products. Just because you bought it on the American side with an American seller, doesn't mean you didn't buy a Mexican product. Here is the list:

  • All-Clean Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-002-01)
  • Esk Biochem Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-007-01)
  • CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 75% Alcohol (NDC: 74589-008-04)
  • Lavar 70 Gel Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-006-01)
  • The Good Gel Antibacterial Gel Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-010-10)
  • CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 80% Alcohol (NDC: 74589-005-03)
  • CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 75% Alcohol (NDC: 74589-009-01)
  • CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 80% Alcohol (NDC: 74589-003-01)
  • Saniderm Advanced Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-001-01)

As usual the FDA and CDC recommend washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, wearing a mask, and cleaning surfaces once you are done in that area.
