Last summer the boathouse which is home to the Duluth Rowing Club was even quieter than normal. So to make up for that the Duluth Rowing Club (DRC) is making some changes. In 2020 they were only allowed to teach a limited master class, but now they are happy to announce that their Junior Program (for ages 13-18) is returning this year.

Coach Henri Laliberte said to WDIO:

This season the team is deliberately focusing on not only on coaching current rowers, but introducing brand new people to the sport. In the evenings on Tuesday and Thursday, as well as Saturday mornings, we're going to be holding a learn to row class for people with no experience, It's going to be from the bottom up, from stroke one to potentially racing down later in the summer.

The club is also launching an Open Row session for anyone aged 30-50. In the end though they say everyone is welcome to come down and take a look, give it a try and maybe join the club? You will be in good hands with the likes of Coach Laliberte who has been with DRC for the past two years and at one point competed with the national team in China. The Harbor Side of Park Point is where they launch and let the fun begin!

Regattas have been canceled through the month of July for the club but members are committed to work hard and train in hopes that some races might pop up later this summer. What a cool opportunity for the average person to learn how to row and enjoy the great outdoors and getting exercise in a fun environment! Just another huge benefit of living in the Twin Ports!
