Duluth has advanced to the third round of "The Best Town In America" by Outside Magazine. Duluth advanced past Columbia, MO, in first round of the Midwest part of the bracket; winning in grand style, earning 15,512 votes to 3,463 for Columbia. Round two Duluth was able to overtake Athens, OH in a landslide 23,541 to 6,330 vote. Now Duluth faces La Crosse, WI, with voting for this round is open now through 10:59 p.m. (local time) on Thursday, May 29, 2014.

Each of the towns on this list are competing in a bracket-style competition to be named the overall best town in the country. Duluth is now in the Sweet 16, if you will. Individuals can vote once in each round of the competition to support their favorite town. Every round will offer five days of voting before a winner is declared to move on to the next round of the tournament. A final winner will be announced on June 15

This isn’t the first time Duluth has been in a “best of” race of this nature. Outside Magazine named Duluth one of the “30 Best Towns in America” in 2007, and also was also named one of the “Top Dream Towns” of 2001.
