The Duluth East Greyhounds continued their run of upsets, defeating last year's champions 3-1 to advance to the 2015 Class AA boys hockey championship. Edina entered the game as a number 2 seed that has averaged over 5 goals a game this season, looking to make a repeat trip to the championship. The Greyhounds had other plans.

After Edina's Patrick Haug posted the first goal of the game at the 10 minute mark of the first period, it would be all Duluth East from there. Luke Dow tied the game to end the first period, and Nick Altmann scored what would be the game winner as the lone goal of the second period. Ash Altmann cemented the win for East, scoring on a breakaway late in the third period to give the Hounds the 3-1 win and their first trip to the championship game since 2011.

Senior goalie Gunnar Howg played a big role in the win, blocking 25 of 26 shots to keep Edina well below their 5+ goal per game average.

The Greyhounds now look to see who wins tonight's game between Eden Prairie and top seeded Lakeville North. The winner will face the Hounds in their bid to bring home their first title since 1998. East will face the winner of that game at 7 pm Saturday at the Xcel Energy Center.
