It's a great opportunity for kids to stay in shape and stay active in the cold winter months. It will debut this Saturday, January 8 at the College of Saint Scholastica. The Young Athletes Foundation and Grandma's Marathon have partnered with all the leading colleges from Duluth and Superior.
From the Grandma's Marathon Website, Here Is The Schedule.
- January 8 – College of Saint Scholastica
- January 22 – University of Minnesota Duluth
- February 5 – University of Wisconsin Superior
The Saturday Morning at the Races series is free and open to all children ages 14 and under, with adaptive races and races for wheelchair athletes available at all locations. Participants, based on their age, will have the opportunity to complete either a 1/8-mile, a 1/4-mile, or a 1/2-mile course. Just for competing, every child will also receive a T-shirt that will have the name of the college that they competed at.
Races will start at 10:00 a.m. each week, and participants will be separated into different heats based on the number of kids in any specific age group. All participants must wear masks as per the mandates at all the schools the competition is being held at.
Anyone interested in participating is encouraged to register in advance at grandmasmarathon.com. Kids and their families can register for all remaining events at once, or pick and choose the dates and locations that work best for them. On-site registration will also be available each week starting at 9:00 a.m.
