You'll need to practice good "social distancing" behavior, but local residents can take part in one of the annual rites of spring around here:  smelting.  The City of Superior has issued a statement about the sport as it pertains to Wisconsin Point; to paraphrase, locals that "socially distance" can take part in the run, but only locals - you need to be a resident of Douglas County to do so.

Specifically, here's how it reads:

All public and private gatherings of any number of people that are not part of a single
household or living unit are prohibited. Outdoor activities including visiting public and
state parks, is allowed provided individuals comply with Social Distancing Requirements.
Social Distancing Requirements includes maintaining social distancing of six (6) feet
between people (except that they do not need to maintain social distancing between
family members in a single living unit or household members.)

The City of Superior wants to remind the public that Douglas County residents may
participate in the smelt harvest with their family members in a single living unit or
household member’s immediate household and long as you are following the Safer at
Home Order and the CDC guidelines.
In an effort to limit social gatherings and to comply with the social distancing guidelines,
we ask that people limit the number of people around bon fires, and
maintain social distancing of 6 feet.

The statement also encouraged smelters to abide by park hours at Wisconsin Point.
