CHUM Releases Want List Items For Their Outreach Programs
The CHUM Warming Center will be open until April 1. from 6 pm to 8 am the next day. Once it closes, CHUM knows there are people that need help staying warm.
Chum has published some things they are looking for is some sleeping bags, blankets, jackets, gloves, hats, and tents for people to keep warm when the warming center is closed. Many people have nowhere to go and the tent will get them out of the wind and provide shelter.
Warm clothing, socks, sweatshirts, and things of that nature they are always looking for to keep people warm. Backpacks have been a popular thing so that homeless people can carry personal items and personal hygiene items with them. Sometimes they have things they consider to be valuable or wallets or their id can be safely and securely carried with them.
Looking at the CHUM website and talking to the organization, they are looking for other Items:
- For the Health Clinic: new underwear, boxers, bras, socks, deodorant, and tampons.
- For Outreach Services: hand warmers, Chapstick, and candles.
Heavy winter coats, winter boots, hats, gloves, and scarves are also welcome. - For the Family Shelter: twin size bed sheets, twin size comforters, twin size mattress protectors, silverware sets (plastic works!), dishes (bowls and flat plates), household mops, brooms, and dustpans, household trash cans, baking utensils (cupcake tins and cookie sheets), pots and pans, individual laundry detergent and dish soap.
- For the Steve O'Neil Apartments: New or gently used vacuum cleaners.
With some of these places for low-income people or people that are finally getting off the streets, anything that you can help with for furnishings or kitchen items would help someone who can't afford to buy things for their home.
