One of the two major bridges that allow Twin Ports drivers to cross the St. Louis River will see maintenance work the rest of the month - resulting in major alternating lane closures and width restrictions. Work crews with the Minnesota Department of Transportation will be performing maintenance on Bong Bridge September 11-30 as part of their annual schedule.

Drivers can expect to see alternating lane closures between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM.  During the process, their will be alternating closures in both directions - southbound and northbound, Superior-bound and Duluth-bound.

In addition, MNDOT is placing width restrictions during the work schedule;  loads driving on the Bong Bridge should not be wider than 10 feet.

Drivers are urged to use caution in this and all work zones.
