Social Security scams are nothing new. The Federal Trade Commission is now warning of another one making the rounds.

According to a press release put out by the FTC, there is a new Social Security scam "with a twist" which tells the person on the other end of the phone line that their benefits are going to end.

Clearly, this is a scam and you should not engage with the robot on the other end of the line. The Social Security Administration will not end your benefits, call you to threaten to end your benefits or tell you to send them money in any way, shape or form.

The FTC says this is the number one scam being reported right now so it is important that you are aware of it and take the measures necessary to avoid becoming a victim.

If you receive one of these calls, hang up immediately. Become aware of what the SSA will and will not do and as always, never give any personal information out over the phone.

Earlier this month, law enforcement across the country was warning residents about a Venmo scam, which was being used to hack into user's accounts and steal their money.
