Biology and Earth Science students at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, the Lake Superior Research Institute, Lake Superior, and those who live near it will all reap the benefits of a recent $1 million donation. The money was gifted anonymously to provide the funding for a floating classroom on the Great Lakes.

News sources are reporting that the money will help re-start a similar program that used to exist via LSRI from 1978 until 2012.

While the general benefits for science students enrolled at UWS are readily apparent, the renewed program would also be a positive for all that live or work in this area.  Data combed would be put to good use as scientific research.

Now that the donation has been received, officials will embark on a two-year planning session to determine what steps need to be taken next.
