Amtrak Interested in Running Rail Service Between Twin Ports + Twin Cities
When I was little, I remember riding an Amtrak train from Duluth to Minneapolis and back several times. Now, it looks like rail service between those two areas could return.
According to DuluthNewsTribune.com, Amtrak officials will be in Duluth this week to discuss rail service between the Twin Ports and the Twin Cities. This is the second time in about a month that they have been in the area to focus on this project.
According to the DNT, Amtrak's Joe McHugh, who serves as vice president of state-supported services, is leading a contingent who will:
Meet with the mayors and other leaders from Duluth and Superior on Monday, before spending all day Tuesday at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul with elected officials from up and down the line along the proposed $550-million Northland Lights Express.
Monday, March 11 at 4:00 p.m., there will be a social event at The Depot, on West Michigan Street in Duluth. The event will feature and question and answer session and a social mixer with snacks and locally brewed beers.
