The Allman Brothers Band Confirm Final Tour Dates
The Allman Brothers Band have made "their final plans" official. In a news release, they confirmed that their last live performances will be held October 27-28 at a place that has become a second home to them, the Beacon Theatre in New York City.
Their concluding dates will follow a quartet of rescheduled Beacon shows to be held on October 21-22 and October 24-25. Those were postponed after Gregg Allman fell ill.
This confirmation gives extra cachet to every remaining show from the Allman Brothers Band, beginning with their stop at Mountain Jam on Sunday, June 8 at Hunter Mountain, NY, where they will perform their classic first two albums -- 'The Allman Brothers Band' and 'Idlewild South' -- in their entirety. For complete information, visit Mountain Jam's website.
Butch Trucks had earlier mentioned the possibility of two more New York City appearances, but today's release firms up things. Tickets for the March shows will be honored during the rescheduled Beacon shows. Those who cannot attend in October are eligible for refunds at the point of purchase through August 1.
The Allman Brothers Band will retire having played the Beacon a total of 232 times since beginning annual residences at the New York City venue in 1989. The surprise exits in January of both Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks initially put the future of the group in doubt.
