One of the most popular Duluth attractions every spring and summer is the North Shore Scenic Railroad and the Duluth Zephyr is their most popular trip.

Despite another snowy spring week in the Northland, good news arrived regarding the Duluth Zephyr Train as it will soon be carrying passengers once again with both a First Class option, as well as Coach Seats. Visit Duluth shared the exciting information Wednesday on their official Facebook page.

According to the North Shore Scenic Railroad, the Duluth Zephyr is a 75 minute trip (1hour, 15 minutes) that travels through downtown, along the shoreline of Lake Superior, through the historic Congdon Neighborhood wooded area, until it reaches a siding where they stop briefly to turn around and return to the Depot. It's a great ride that's fun for all ages.

They note on their website that there are two ticket options to ride the Duluth Zephyr:

  • First Class Option ($40 per ticket for all ages, including babies): Ride in the Dome Car and enjoy the unique upstairs viewing area, with an attendant designated just for you. Space is limited to about 60 passengers in the SkyView Dome Car per trip. Enjoy complimentary snacks while you experience the spectacular views from above, in the dome car.
  • Coach Seats (Adults – $20.00, Children (3-13) $10.00. Ages 2 and under free): Ride in one of several historic coaches. Some have open windows, some have air conditioning/heat, its up to you! A concession car is also available to explore.

Beverages and snacks are available onboard the train. There are Pepsi products, juice, and water options for all, while beer, wine, and seltzers are available for ages 21+.

The North Shore Scenic Railroad notes that while reservations are not required for the Duluth Zephyr Train, they are very much recommended and tickets can be purchased anytime prior to departure.
