Major arena tours provide great opportunities for old friends to reunite in the for of special guest appearances. Tuesday night (July 24) at the IZOD Center in E. Rutherford, N.J., Aerosmith were joined onstage by Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniel of Run-D.M.C., who sat in with the band on ‘Toys in the Attic.’

Nah, we’re just messing with you there. Of course, they did ‘Walk this Way.’  What else would they do? After all, it was the song Run-D.M.C., with help from Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, took to No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot 100 in 1986. The collaboration was the first rap-rock hybrid and won a Soul Train Music Award for Best Rap Single. It is also considered to be largely responsible for jumpstarting Aerosmith’s commercial rebirth that they’re still enjoying today.

And yes, McDaniels is wearing a Jim Morrison t-shirt.

Aerosmith’s ‘Global Warming’ tour is winding down, with eight more shows to play between now and the final gig on Aug. 12 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Va. The most recent release date for their new album, ‘Music From Another Dimension,’ is Nov. 6.
