Andrea Hayden is making history with the Minnesota Twins organization this year. She officially became a member of the Twins' coaching staff last November, when she was promoted after a year-long fellowship during the 2019 season. This move made her the first female strength and conditioning coach in MLB history!

Several players had no idea how big this was until they saw her featured in a television segment about it. Hayden was happy that that the guys did not realize this was not the norm, it meant she was doing her job and it's business as usual.

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said to MLB.com. "She’s got a great personality, she’s got great knowledge in her field, and she’s adapted to the Major League clubhouse, it feels like effortlessly. It didn’t take very long for a lot of our players to come forward and say that they really enjoyed working with her, and it was a pretty straightforward, pretty easy decision for us to want to have her here and have her here full-time and do her thing, which is great."

Hayden seems to be adjusting well to the big jump into the Majors calling the players her "brothers" and takes jabs with the best of them in the weight room. The only downside she jokes is that all the t-shirts are in men's sizes. Hayden went on to say to MLB.com  "I'm so humbled that they put their name on me. I say I wear a jersey with a lot of people's names on my back that have taken a risk on me, whether that was when I was 18 or currently in the big leagues. People have taken a risk to allow me to do what I love, and so I take that really seriously."  This is beyond awesome and hopefully she will help open doors for more women in the future to be in coaching positions in men's professional sports.
