Summer is coming up soon! We have hiking and sports, which can build up a lot of heat in our shoes. Being a diabetic, feet health is very important to me. Research shows that merino wool efficiency assist your body in natural cooling process and smell.

The merino is one of the world’s most ancient breeds of sheep, and one of the toughest. They live in the extremes of New Zealand’s Southern Alps. The fleeces are built for extremes, and are breathable in the summer, insulating in the winter, yet exceptionally soft and lightweight.

That sticky feeling in your shoes on those hot days is your body’s heat building up moisture in between your skin and the fibers of your socks. Merino fiber can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture and still feel dry. Because of the merino wool’s ability to manage moisture odor, bacteria doesn't have the moist environment they need to survive.

Another reason these are so popular with hikers and campers is you don’t need to wash the socks as often and there’s still no smell. You could hand wash them, hang them up in the morning and they would be fresh and ready for your comfort. I’ll let you know how they work when I get mine from my mail order. I may not get the big bundle you get at a superstore, but these are better holding their shape and less sock laundry to do.
