The Kickstarter website has been in the news a lot the last year or so - with people who post their pleas for others to fund their pet projects. Some of those requests for cash are for charitable needs and some are to help get an invention off the ground.

One item on Kickstarter that caught my eye was an idea that inventor Lauren Chouinard has for a new or different way to apply butter to food products.  It's called a Butter Crayon and it works like this:  A square silicone container is loaded with half a stick of butter, and then the user is able to push out a desired amount to rub on the food (or surface) they wish.  Afterwards, a cap is placed on top and it can be stored in the refrigerator.

Chouinard acknowledges that there are other butter-applications on the market, but the Butter Crayon has several patented differences.
