The Superior Police Department is warning citizens about a phone scam that is asking for donations for fire education in schools. The caller claims to be from the Superior Fire Department, and from what reports to the police are saying, the scammers are very convincing.

The Superior Fire Department reminds citizens that they do not authorize any phone solicitation on their behalf. Furthermore, the department maintains an agreement with the National Safety Council to provide fire safety and fire education materials. These materials are primarily targeted around October of each year, which is Fire Prevention Month.

Fundraising on behalf of the NSC's efforts is done with direct communication between authorized representatives and local businesses, with 100% of the funds collected going toward fire safety education materials used in the Superior area.
