New Green Album Brings The Muppets To The Forefront Again.

There's a new album out. The Beatles have the white album, the Muppets have "The Green Album", and a new movie this fall.

Loaded covers of the show's classic songs by popular musicians Weezer, OK Go, The Fray, My Morning Jacket and Amy Lee, the album gives fans a taste of the musically-included film they're headed to see come November.

 

In other words, if you're a sucker for '80s nostalgia, this should be right up your alley.

As Kermit the Frog once told MTV, he was "hip-hop before hip-hop was hip," so it should come as no surprise that the upcoming "The Muppets" flick is loaded with A-list musical talent.

Kermit has always kept up-to-date with popular music, as he told MTV during an interview back in 2006. Back then he was listening to Cypress Hill, The Executioners and Green Day, but I have a feeling that the music he's listening to now is more in line with what's on this album. He's always been a sucker for playing music as well, even if people do give him a hard time about his banjo.

"A lot of people think a banjos kind of a corny musical instrument, but where I come from in the swamp, it's a good one," he explained. "When you're in the swamp, it's very difficult to get into electronic music because of course you don't really have electricity. Water, electricity, not a good idea. So I had to go with an acoustic instrument. And there aren't that many around, either. It's kind of limited what you can get in the swamp."
