Although it's been dark for more than 20 years, the Grain Belt Beer sign that graces the skyline on Nicollet Island may be brought back to life soon.

August Schell Brewing Company - which bought the brand in 2002 - has now entered into an agreement to purchase the sign and has suggested that they have hopeful plans to make it work again.

Company officials would work to restore the neon lighting on the sign, get it working once again, and then donate it to the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota.
