There has been talk for many months that we be losing our movie theater in the Mariner Mall. The screens goes black December 6th.

The announcement came today that the Superior Value Cinema will close it's doors next month.

The building lease is up at the end of the year and with low attendance Marcus decided with the expensive upgrades needed to the theater it would not be moving forward on the investment.  The Theater uses 35mm films and the market is limited as the industry moves to the digital projection of films.

The employees will be offered jobs at the other two Marcus Cinemas.

The Superior theater was the where I saw my first 3D movie and destination of many dates, over the last few year my friends and I would enjoy a Margarita or two next door and head to a movie. I will miss having the movies there.
