I-35 Nighttime Closures Begin July 26; Railroad Street Detour Ends

As the downtown transportation center project moves along, one detour will end and another set of closures will begin.

Officials with the City of Duluth and the Duluth Transit Authority are alerting the public that Railroad Street will reopen on Sunday, July 26 at approximately 6:00 PM and the frontage road alongside northbound I-35 between 5th Avenue west and Lake Avenue will reopen on July 30.  This will conclude the Phase I Detour around the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center (DECC).

At about the same time, nighttime closures on I-35 will start - for a period of approximately ten nights. The nighttime only closure of northbound I-35 will continue on July 27th through Friday morning July 31. It will also occur from Sunday, August 2 through Friday morning August 7.  This nighttime closure from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM will take place on a total of ten nights. During this nighttime closure, the detour will be via 5th Avenue West, Railroad Street, and Lake Avenue and then back onto the freeway.
