How Long Does A Store Bought Pumpkin Pie Last Before It Spoils? An Update On One Of Our Deep Fried Thanksgiving Stars
"Can I still eat that?" I think everyone ponders that question from time to time. You know the problem - you cook a meal, have leftovers, and put them into the refrigerator for safe keeping. A couple of days later you find the container - untouched - and you start to wonder if it's still safe to consume.
What if that food was more than two months old?
When we last saw this store-bought pumpkin pie, it served as one of the stars of our Deep Fried Thanksgiving video last November. So imagine my surprise as I opened up the office refrigerator this afternoon and found the remaining pie - still in the container it was sold in. At this point, it's a little over two months old - and it still looks as good as the day it was sold. The "use by" sticker says 11/16; that would refer to 2015 not 2016!
Mind you - I'm not about to taste it to see if it's still good. First - it's two months old. But also - it's a store-bought pumpkin pie and you know my thoughts on that!
Anyway. I just thought you might enjoy the update.
[By the way - I left the pie in the refrigerator because I want to see just how long it goes before someone finally throws it away or eats it - whichever comes first.]
